Organic straws, 100% Natural
Every year 'straws' grow in cereal fields all over the world. The top of the plant is harvested for food, the stalks remain on the land. These are hollow on the inside and therefore perfectly usable as straws! We do not throw these stems away. They are collected, cut by hand and sterilised in hot water. This way, each straw is ready to be served in your cocktails, lemonades, juices and soft drinks!
Frequently asked questions
Are the cornstalk straws gluten-free?
Yes. Gluten is found in the seeds of the plant and can therefore be found in food. Our straws are made from the stalks, which do not contain gluten. These straws are also sterilised before use. In addition, they are not edible, so you will not ingest gluten.
Are the straws coated?
They shine so beautifully, but are they coated? Our straws are 100% natural. The luxurious golden glow is also pure nature.
What happens if these straws end up in the environment?
Ecolinq.com straws are very simple: washed and cut cereal stalks. If they end up in the environment, this closes the circular loop! They are biodegradable and even nutritious for micro-organisms. The duration of biodegradation depends on natural conditions such as temperature, wind and moisture.
Are they also available in specific lengths and diameters?
They are available in 14 cm lengths with diameters between 3-6 mm. Each package has varying diameters because that's how they grow in nature. This makes every drinking experience unique!
Why are these the most environmentally friendly straws?
Our straws are not mechanically produced. They are grain stalks left over after the grain harvest. Because we use an agricultural residue to combat plastic, both the product and the production processes are simpler and more environmentally friendly than machine-produced straws.
What is the difference between Cane and Straw?
Straw = wheat stalk. You can find it on a farm for example, it is the material that horses lie on in their stables. It is made of crushed straw. Wheat grows on the farm, the seeds of the plant are harvested for food and the stems that remain are wheat stalks. This is residual material that is often used as a 'bed' for animals. This residual material is called straw. Reed = a type of grass that grows by the water. Do you know those very tall plants you see along banks / ditches? That is reed. Reed is a lot firmer and thicker than straw.
