Glassine envelopes for collectors
As a collector, you want your products to remain in good condition. Glassine paper is therefore commonly used in photo albums and for storing collectable items. In addition to being naturally grease-resistant and water-repellent, the material helps protect the contents effectively.

How is glassine paper made?
Glassine is a type of paper that is usually made from the wood of coniferous trees. This wood is processed into cellulose pulp, which is then used to produce glassine paper.
The pulp is pressed intensively under high pressure between large steel rollers. This process creates a smooth, semi-transparent paper with a very dense and minimally porous structure. As a result, glassine paper is grease-resistant, reasonably moisture-resistant and suitable for both writing and printing.
Although glassine paper may look as though it has a grease-resistant coating, this is not the case. Glassine bags are grease-resistant because of the material’s highly compact fibre structure.
Glassine and the environment
Glassine paper is recyclable and can be processed through the paper recycling stream, provided that it is clean and free from excessive product residue.
