What are PLA bags?
PLA stands for Polylactic Acid and is a bioplastic, a term often used in the packaging industry. It is crystal clear foil or bioplastic that is made from Starch, Beetroot and for example Corn. Organic raw materials, in other words. No fossil fuels (oil) are used in the production of PLA film and because the raw materials for making PLA bags are vegetable, PLA bags are industrially compostable. Not to be confused with biodegradable, because that is not what it is (contrary to what many companies claim).
